Video date: March 16, 2026

In this video: Tolls have been announced for the Gordie Howe Bridge, and they will be quite a bit cheaper than the Ambassador Bridge. Gas prices are spiking right as spring break hits its crescendo; meanwhile, Florida continues to be a top spot for spring break destinations. New York has won on the congestion tolling fight, but collecting actual tolls appears to be a growing problem. Danny Pryor reports for Turnpikes.com.

Full description: New tolls have been announced for the Gordie Howe Bridge, which is set to open at any time; commercial transponder account types have also been revealed, with private options coming soon. The tolls are less than 60-percent of the cost of traversing the nearby Ambassador Bridge. The cost of gas is hitting new highs each day, as spring break reaches its peak across the country. Meanwhile, four of the five top spring break destinations in the U.S. are in Florida, with Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Chicago in the top ten. The New York City victory to keep congestion tolling may seem like a cake-walk compared to actually collecting tolls, as the MTA reports a surge in uncollected toll invoices. Danny Pryor reports for turnpikes.com.
