In this video: The Gordie Howe International Bridge will not have a transponder compatible with E-ZPass or other systems; meanwhile, congestion tolling appears to be here to stay following a federal ruling. Tolls have been set for a bridge that will not be ready for five years, and more money is being distributed for trucker parking. Danny Pryor reports for Turnpikes.com.

Full description: The toll pass that will be issued for the new Gordie Howe International Bridge will not be compatible with other toll systems, that is the word from an official with the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority. Meanwhile, an opening of the bridge is still on track for the early part of this year, but an exact date is still elusive. Congestion tolling will remain a fixture in Manhattan, following a ruling in federal court dismissing an effort to block the toll zone. Truckers have been reassured that more money is on its way for more trucker parking, with the FHWA administrator reassuring webinar visitors the administration is committed to the trucking industry. Tolls have been set for the new I-69 Ohio River Crossing, despite the fact the bridge will not be open for another five years; plus, Massachusetts has done away with the transponder box in favor of an all-sticker E-ZPass system.
